2026 NHS England GP Patient Survey – Our Results

Each year, NHS England conducts the GP Patient Survey, an independent and anonymous survey of patients who have recently used our surgery. The survey provides valuable feedback about patient’s experiences and the results are analysed and published nationally.

We are delighted to report that this year’s results show our practice performing well above both the Hampshire and Isle of Wight (HIOW) averages and the national averages across all key indicators.

Last year’s survey highlighted several areas where patients felt we could improve. We took that feedback seriously and made these areas a priority. We are pleased that this year’s results reflect the positive impact of those changes.

Our improvements included:

  • Ease of getting through by phone: 89% of patients say it is easy to get through to reception by phone, an increase of 5% from the previous survey. This improvement reflects the outstanding work of our reception team, who are dedicated to answering calls promptly, supporting patients with care and professionalism, and ensuring they receive the help they need as quickly as possible.
  • Overall experience: 94% of patients rated their overall experience at St Mary’s Surgery as good, an impressive increase of 8% from the previous survey. This significant improvement reflects the continued commitment and hard work of the entire practice team in providing high-quality, compassionate care and a positive experience for our patients.
  • Preferred healthcare professional continuity:71% of patients said they were able to see or speak to their preferred healthcare professional when they wanted to, representing an outstanding increase of 25% from the previous survey. This significant improvement reflects the practice’s ongoing commitment to providing continuity of care, helping patients build trusted relationships with their preferred healthcare professional whenever possible.

We are delighted to share the results of the latest NHS GP Patient Survey (January–March 2026). Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback. Your views are invaluable and help St Mary’s Surgery continue to improve the care and services we provide for all our patients.

St Mary’s Surgery continues to perform well above the national average in the GP Patient Survey. With an overall patient satisfaction score of 94%, compared with the England average of approximately 77%, these results place us amongst the stronger-performing GP practices nationally. We are also the joint top performing Surgery in Andover.

We are extremely proud of these results, particularly given the significant challenges currently facing general practice and the wider NHS.

They are a testament to the hard work, dedication and compassion of our entire team, who strive every day to provide the highest standard of care for our patients. While we are delighted with these positive outcomes, we remain committed to continually improving our services and listening to the views of our patients.

Our aim is simple: to ensure every patient feels listened to, well informed, and treated with dignity, kindness and respect.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey and share your feedback. Your comments, whether positive or constructive, are invaluable in helping us shape and improve the care we provide for our community.
