The nursing staff provide some or all of the following services in most clinics:
- injections
- cervical smears
- travel advice
- chronic disease management
- routine vaccinations and immunisations
- removal of stitches
Some of these procedures can only be carried out when a doctor is on the premises. Routine blood pressure checks, urine testing and dressings are also carried out by the practice nurses and healthcare assistant. Your specimens must reach the laboratory the same day and need to be ready for the transport by 12.30pm.
Therefore, please respect the advice the patient services team gives you on the timing of your appointment, they are trying to save you a wasted journey.
